Effective January 1, 2018, persons entering the British Virgin Islands for the purpose of work and to reside, now have the option to either submit medical certificates from their place of origin at the port of entry, as is the current practice, or to undergo medical examinations locally with a medical practitioner of choice.
The Government of the Virgin Islands is notifying prospective employers that the Department of Immigration is putting measures in place to allow for the quick processing of work permits for skilled craftsmen such as construction workers to help rebuild the Territory.
Employers of migrant workers are advised to provide the Immigration and Labour Departments with a post hurricane notification outlining their current position and intentions, specifically as it relates to their future operations and staff complement.
