Clients and students of the Autism Centre, Rainbow Children Home and BVI Services were gifted with a new playground donated by Unite BVI.
Head of the Disabilities Division, Lorna Dawson said that while the centre continues to rebuild, it continues to provide service to its clients on a one-on-one basis as oppose to the usual camps.
“They come and they look out the window and ask when will they get back their playground and they have been seeing the work that has been going on. There is still a lot of work to do and a lot of finishing touches but it is here,” Ms. Dawson said.
Unite BVI representative, Ms. Lauren Keil said, “After the hurricanes, there was so much destruction. I think that this playground symbolises that we, through our strength of community and the kindness that arose as we came together to take care of one another, that there is new hope.”
The playground was designed and built by Mitch Lederman of Ramsay Construction. It was dedicated by Pastor Winston Salmon on April 5.
