Virgin Islanders who are interested in pursuing a master’s degree in the United Kingdom are invited to join former Chevening scholars, Hakim Creque and Brittney Smith at a breakfast forum on Monday, August 31.

Mr. Creque said any person who is interested in pursuing tertiary studies can attend the forum as they are eligible to apply for the Chevening Scholarship. He said interested persons must be a National/Belonger of the Virgin Islands, have completed an undergraduate degree and have at least two years of work experience.

Mr. Creque said that it is a misconception that persons believe the scholarship is reserved for students pursuing legal studies adding that qualified persons with an interest in any discipline of study can apply.

The forum will be held at Sweet and Savory Bakery at 7:30 a.m. Interested persons should indicate their interest to cheveningalumnibvi@gmail.com by Tuesday, August 25 so that accurate numbers can be obtained to enable proper social distancing protocols and guidelines.

Details about the application process will be discussed during the forum along with life as a Chevening Scholar, living in the United Kingdom and other important topics related to the United Kingdom and the scholarship.

“We want to bring awareness to this great opportunity and ensure that persons are properly informed about what to expect,” Mr. Creque added.

Chevening Scholarships are offered by the Governor’s Office and are eligible to citizens of a Chevening-eligible country or territory. The programme is an international scholarship scheme which enables students with leadership qualities from over 160 countries and territories to undertake postgraduate study or courses in universities in the United Kingdom.
