Disruptions and delays in e-Zone and Amerijet services are expected to occur in the Virgin Islands due to Hurricane Matthew’s strike in Florida, United States of America.
Postmaster General of the BVI Post, Ms. Pascha Stoutt said that due to inclement weather caused by Hurricane Matthew, several post offices, including the Miami hub for mail deliveries have suspended operations.
Ms. Stoutt said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with our postal and corporate partners in the United States of America who are being heavily affected by Hurricane Matthew.”
She added, “We are asking for the Virgin Islands community’s patience during this time as our Post Office services and the e-Zone and Amerijet services are experiencing delivery delays from the Miami hubs. Once the conditions improve, normal delivery is expected to resume.”
According to the Weather Company, Hurricane Matthew's eyewall continues to brush parts of Florida's northeast coast with high winds and storm surge flooding.
The Category 3 hurricane is projected to cause potentially serious rainfall flooding to Georgia, South Carolina, and southern North Carolina up to Saturday night.
Delivery and retail operations along the Southeast coast of the United States, specifically in Northern Florida and South Georgia have suspended mail deliveries and retail operations until further notice.
