Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie has said that steps have been taken for the re-establishment of the Civil Aviation Department in the Virgin Islands.

Premier Fahie while delivering his 2022 Budget Address said one of the benefits of this move is to allow individuals to be able to register their aircraft in the jurisdiction, which means that there will be new revenue earnings for the Territory.

The Department of Civil Aviation is charged with facilitating the development, administration and promotion of a BVI based regulatory system of civil aviation matters, for all aviation operations in and out of the Virgin Islands (VI).

The department is headed by Director Mr. Coy Levons. Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities, Honourable Kye M. Rymer said he was pleased to have brought Mr. Levons on board as the ministry works to increase its growth potential by identifying and developing alliances with key stakeholders in the industry which will in turn advance the economic development to be derived from regulating the aviation industry.

The Ministry of Transportation, Works and Utilities continues to ensure that the Virgin Islands enjoy the highest standards of internationally acceptable public infrastructure and utilities within its means.
