Local authors Donald de Castro and Nurse Diana Stewart-Walker have recently published books which are now available for sale in stores around the Territory.

“Deep Height”- a romance novel about a couple who find love in each other but are struggling to get over their past relationships was launched by Nurse Walker who has also authored “The Wood” – an adventure book about a group of friends who are stuck on an island after a storm and are trying to survive, and “Secret Exposed” – An adventure book about a supernatural tree and the powers it possesses.

Meanwhile Mr. de Castro’s literary piece “Things I Remember” is a book about his memories of the Virgin Islands in the past.

“There is some history about the Virgin Islands and the US Virgin Islands,” he said, adding that a major portion of the book is about people who lived and worked on what is called Main Street today from Governor’s House to the Methodist cemetery.

Mr. de Castro’s inspiration for the book came from the need to educate persons on the development of the Territory and to highlight the fact that persons from the Virgin Islands worked outside the Territory in places such as St. Thomas and had issues with immigration.

Both authors expressed that writing a book is time consuming but that the end product is well rewarding.

“I would encourage everyone to write a book as it gives you pleasure, enables you to think and can be very rewarding. So write once you get the idea, just build on it and write.” Nurse Walker said.

“Deep Height”, “The Wood” and “Secret Exposed” are available for purchase on Amazon, at Little Denmark on Main Street or at the Trellis Bay Market.

“Things I Remember” can be purchased at Island Services in Pasea, Little Denmark on Main Street, Koy’s Mailing Service on Main Street and Xpress Fashions on Water Front Drive.
