Persons are required to obtain permission under the Noise Control and Abatement Act in order to amplify sound of any kind beyond the confines of personal space anywhere in the Territory. A letter of request is to be made in writing to the Commissioner of Police in advance in order to obtain a Noise Exemption Permission Letter.
Process
Step 1: A request letter with the details of the event and contact information should be addressed to the Commissioner of Police and hand delivered to Police Headquarters at least ten working days (two weeks) in advance of the event.
Step 2: The application is logged, stamped and forwarded to the Commissioner for vetting.
Step 3: If approved, a permission letter is created, signed and stamped.
Step 4: Applicant is notified about the decision within the two week period and when the Noise Exemption Permission Letter can be collected.
