The Department of Agriculture is notifying persons registered for the Poultry Seminar to take place Friday, October 14, that the venue has been changed to the Conference Room of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The Department of Agriculture is inviting all interested persons to register and participate in an upcoming poultry seminar on Friday, October 14.

The public and farmers are notified that the direct phone line to the abattoir is in operation

The Department of Agriculture is notifying the public, particularly the farming community that the abattoir in Paraquita Bay is currently unable to receive and process pigs.

Minister for Natural Resources and Labour, Dr. the Honourable Kedrick D.Pickering and officials from the Department of Agriculture visited the newly established poultry farm of local poultry farmer, Albert Pickering.

Farmers and bird-handlers are reminded that requests for import permits are to be made to the Department of Agriculture before importing birds into the Territory.

Dog-owners and enthusiasts are reminded to register all pet dogs, over the age of six months, with the Department of Agriculture. 

Owners of dogs in the Territory are reminded to implement good safety habits through registration of their pets, leashing, tying and fencing-in practices.

The Government of the Virgin Islands is informing the public that the annual Farmers’ Week celebrations are postponed until 2017.

The Department of Agriculture wishes to advise residents and visitors to the British Virgin Islands that it is unlawful to import plants and/or plant materials into the Territory without a valid provisional import permit in accordance with the Plant Protection Act (Cap. 93).
