Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Kye M. Rymer has honoured the resilience and courage of the people of the Virgin Islands in his reflections on the seventh anniversary of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Sharleen DaBreo-Lettsome, MBE has reported that a vast majority of offices within the Public Service have fully reopened to provide services to the public.
Ernesto developed into a hurricane shortly after passing the Virgin Islands, leaving behind some serious damage. While the storm may not have been gentle with us, by God’s grace, we have made it to the all-clear.

The Government of the Virgin Islands has pledged $400,000.00 to the Governments of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Grenada to assist with the countries’ hurricane relief efforts.

The Ministry of Communications and Works is fully aware of the unexpected and severe flooding that has occurred across the Virgin Islands territory today. Heavy rainfall has led to widespread flash flooding in various parts of the islands, causing significant disruptions to traffic and infrastructure, as well as impacting homes and businesses.
