Mister Speaker, as the facilities operated by the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) were not spared the ravages of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, repair works have been in progress in the ensuing period. With respect to the Dr. D Orlando Smith Hospital, Annex, and Major Peebles Wing:
The Government of the Virgin Islands invites all qualified and interested firms to submit tenders for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the North Sound Administration Building on Virgin Gorda.
The Government of the Virgin Islands is inviting bids for rehabilitation and reconstruction works for the Flax and Vanterpool Administration Buildings on Virgin Gorda.
Tropical Storm Karen is moving away from us and I am happy that we find ourselves in this wonderful position where we can get back to a state of normalcy. Thanks be to God!
I never thought such a valuable experience could be had with the enabler being a disaster. As a professional but more critically, as a man who loves this Territory, I was moved by the visible love for the BVI expressed through a caring and attentive community; even through the uncertainty of the past storms. We still have an active hurricane season and we must all Be Ready and Stay Ready.
As Premier of the Virgin Islands, I wish to assure the Government and people of Bermuda that the British Virgin Islands stand prepared to assist with their recovery efforts from Hurricane Humberto and the forecast passage of Hurricane Jerry.
