Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton recently served on the policy makers’ panel at the 10th Caribbean Conference on Health Financing Initiatives held in Turks and Caicos.

Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton led a delegation to the first Child Rights Symposium held in St. Kitts and Nevis hosted by the Organisation Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

The 62^nd Meeting of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Heads of Government concluded in Dominica on Thursday, November 19 after the Caribbean leaders deliberated on various issues affecting the region. 

As your Minister responsible for Health and Social Services in these Virgin Islands, I must inform you that diabetes is one of the most common and costly health challenges facing the Territory today.  

Prayers will be offered for the children of the Territory as the Government of Virgin Islands remains committed to their safety and protection through a Call to Pray radio programme in observance of World Day of Prayer and Action for Children and Universal Children’s Day.

Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton was commended for the British Virgin Islands’ progress towards an universal health system by Dr. Godfrey Xuereb, Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) and World Health Organization (WHO) Representative to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development is encouraging parents to remain vigilant as Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease is on the rise in the Territory.

Inspired by the Healthy Lifestyle School Intervention programme, the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School conducted an activity involving the entire school in celebration of World Diabetes Day.
