The Ministry of Education and Culture is informing the public that the date for the official launch of the Virgin Islands Youth Parliament has been changed from Wednesday, September 30 to Friday, October 2, 2015.  

The Virgin Islands Youth Parliament which seeks to create leadership skills and competencies in the Territory’s youth will be officially launched on September 30.

The Ministry of Education and Culture is inviting the general public to the official launch of the Virgin Islands Youth Parliament. 

Students are required to write on ways to make young people more aware and educated about the financial services industry, the role the industry plays in supporting the standards of living in the British Virgin Islands and the opportunities it offers young people for the future.

Youth in the Territory are invited to participate in an essay competition and share their views on the future of the financial services industry and the role of young people in preparing to advance this sector.

Twenty-five young people from the across the region recently participated in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s (CPA) annual Regional Youth Parliament at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.

The Virgin Islands is hosting the 40^th Annual Conference of the Caribbean, Americas and Atlantic Region of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) from July 25 through August 1.

The 40^th Regional Conference of the Caribbean, Americas and the Atlantic Region of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) will be hosted in the Virgin Islands from July 25 to August 1 and includes a variety of parliamentary conferences including the 11^th Meeting of the Regional Youth Parliament.

I have had the pleasure of working on a number of initiatives in education and youth development - from youth employment, the development of our youth policy, the opening of a true technical secondary school, even the launch of our illustrious Territorial song and wear.  But graduands, there is one item that keeps evading me but I will work diligently to realise this before my second term in office ends - how can we get this graduation to last just 90 minutes.

The meeting, which was scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, will be held on Wednesday, June 24 at the Catholic Community Centre starting at 7:00 p.m.
