The Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) won the 2025 Inter-Secondary School Debates, defeating the Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies (VISTS). ESHS team members Auri-Ana ElShabbaz, Tyasia Cameron, and Syeisha Keith triumphed in the final debate on S.T.E.A.M. education, with Keith winning the overall best speaker award. VISTS received several awards, including second-best speaker by Kellycian Paul. An impromptu speech competition was also held, with Laicha Nguyen of St. George’s Secondary School taking first place. The Department of Waste Management is inviting sealed bids for maintaining the Anegada dumpsite for 10 months. The scope includes compaction of garbage four times a month, covering it with soil or alternative cover three times a month, and providing necessary materials for covering. Interested companies must submit a sealed bid with required documents, including a quotation, good standing certificates, valid trade license, work experience, maintenance methodology, and equipment details. The Eslyn Henley Richez Learning Centre (EHRLC) launched its first-ever Pen-Pal Day on May 21 at the Valerie O. Thomas Community Centre in Sea Cow’s Bay, in partnership with Francis Lettsome, Ebenezer Thomas, and Leonora Delville Primary Schools. The initiative aims to promote inclusion and foster lasting friendships among students, supporting their social, personal, and academic growth. Led by Ms. Elaine Malone-Lewis, the program began with students exchanging letters and culminated in an in-person event featuring pen-pal introductions, interactive games, team-building activities, and a shared lunch. The Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports remains committed to enhancing educational experiences and promoting student engagement across the Territory.
