Job Description
The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority is seeking a mature and highly motivated person to join its team.
Responsibilities
Key Outcomes:
Ensure 99.9%+ uptime across all server systems, minimizing unplanned outages.
Complete 100% of critical system backups and disaster recovery tests on a quarterly basis.
Implement security patches and software updates within five working days of release.
Maintain updated documentation for all server systems and configurations on a quarterly basis.
Limit unauthorized access incidents due to system and user misconfigurations to no more than one per year.
Successfully complete all server-related projects and upgrades within scope and approved timelines.
Core Functions:
Monitor and manage all virtual and physical servers, ensuring they meet performance benchmarks and operate securely and efficiently.
Perform routine and emergency maintenance, including patch management, upgrades, and server reboots, in a structured and minimally disruptive manner.
Develop, maintain and test backup and disaster recovery systems and procedures to guarantee business continuity in case of failure.
Control user access to system resources, ensuring compliance with security protocols and organizational policies.
Install and configure new server systems based on the Authority’s growth and modernization needs.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, network diagrams, recovery procedures, audit logs and policies.
Collaborate with IT leadership on capital projects and modernization initiatives, ensuring server systems align with the Authority’s strategic objectives.
Engage in capacity planning to anticipate future infrastructure demands and make proactive recommendations for resource allocation.
Create and implement Server maintenance Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
Qualifications / Experience / Eligibility
Qualification
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of five years’ experience in server administration role.
Certification in Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.
Certification in VMWare or similar virtualization platforms. (preferred)
Experience
5 Years Hands-on experience managing enterprise-grade server systems in hybrid physical and virtual environments.
Proven ability to execute backup, recovery, and system optimization tasks.
Salary:
Remuneration/ Benefits: Based on qualifications and experience.
