The Anti-Money Laundering Unit (AMLU) of the British Virgin Islands plays a critical role in safeguarding the financial integrity of the territory. As part of the BVI's Financial Services Commission (FSC), we are responsible for monitoring, detecting, and preventing money laundering, terrorist financing, and other illicit financial activities within the jurisdiction.
With a commitment to upholding international regulatory standards, the AMLU collaborates closely with local, regional, and international authorities to ensure transparency, compliance, and financial security. Our efforts focus on identifying high-risk activities, conducting thorough investigations, and promoting best practices across the financial services industry.
Our mission:
is to strengthen the BVI’s reputation as a globally recognized financial hub, while fostering an environment of trust and accountability. Through ongoing training, policy development, and enforcement of anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) regulations, we strive to protect both the local economy and the broader international financial system from criminal exploitation.
