Boo Bay Drive To Close On Saturday, December 20

The Ministry of Communications and Works is informing the public that the road along Boo Bay Drive between Tortola Department Store and Commerce House will be closed on Saturday, December 20 to vehicular traffic.  Road works will begin at 7:00 a.m. and are expected to last all day.

The purpose of this road closure is to fill and grade the road.

Motorists are asked to use alternative routes. 

The Ministry sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused during this time. 

Closure Of Government Offices For Holiday Season

The Deputy Governor’s Office is informing the public that Government offices will be closed at 1:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24 and again at 1:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, December 31.  Exceptions however apply to departments with staff that provide essential services.  

The office regrets any inconvenience caused and wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday season.

East End Road To Close In The Evenings Until December 15

The Ministry of Communications and Works is informing the public that the Blackburn Highway from Parham Town to the Queen Elizabeth Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic nightly from Saturday, December 13 to Monday, December 15 between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Department Of Motor Vehicles Offices To Close Early December 19

The Department of Motor Vehicles is informing the public that its offices on Tortola and Virgin Gorda will be closed early on Friday, December 19.  The Tortola Office will close at 1:00 pm and the Virgin Gorda Office will close at 12:00 pm. 

Normal business hours will resume on Monday, December 22.

Department Of Motor Vehicles Offices To Close On December 10

The Department of Motor Vehicles is reminding the public that its offices on Tortola and Virgin Gorda will be closed on Wednesday, December 10 to allow the staff to attend a general staff meeting and a Customer Service Workshop. 

Registered And Licensed Electricians To Close Off Inspections For 2014

The Electrical Inspection Unit is advising all registered and licensed Electricians that the close off dates for carrying out electrical/mechanical inspections for the remainder of the year is Wednesday, December 17 on the sister islands and Friday, December 19 on Tortola.

Inspections will resume on Monday, January 5, 2015.

Elmore Stoutt High School Hosts 2014 Fair And Fundraiser

The principal, staff and students of the Elmore Stoutt High School invite the public to their annual school fair and exhibition this Thursday, December 11 from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.  Lots of food and drinks will be on sale including a sweet tooth booth and a drink stall.

De Castro Street Closed To Facilitate Christmas Street Fair

The Ministry of Communications and Works is notifying the public that De Castro Street will be reopened on Sunday, December 7 at 8:00 a.m.

The purpose of the road closure is to facilitate the 16th Annual Celebration of Christmas on Main Street.  Motorists are asked to use alternate routes during this time.

Public Works Department Heavy Equipment To Be On Public Display

The Ministry of Communications and Works is informing the public that the new heavy equipment purchased for the Public Works Department will be on display for the public to view at the Festival Grounds on Friday, December 5 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

There will be experts on site who will explain the functions and benefits of the equipment.  The equipment on display will include an Asphalt Distributor Trailer, an Asphalt Paver, a ten ton Roller, a Cold Milling Machine and two Skid Steer Loaders.

All are encouraged to come out and view the display.

Blackburn Highway East End To Be Partially Closed From December 6

The Ministry of Communications and Works is informing the public that the Blackburn Highway in East End from the Methodist Church at Chapel Hill to the Beef Island Bridge will be partially closed from Saturday, December 6 to vehicular traffic.  One lane will be opened to allow for traffic.

The purpose of this closure is to facilitate the rehabilitation of the road in that area.  Motorists should exercise extreme caution when traversing the area and are also encouraged to seek alternative routes.  Motorists should expect heavy traffic delays in the area.
