The Government of the Virgin Islands invites tenders for the rental and operation of a 20-ton dozer at the Pockwood Pond and Virgin Gorda dumpsites for up to 30 days. The equipment must operate at least 8 hours daily, with immediate replacements provided if needed. Limited-Time Access for Commercial Vessels in the Territory
Effective 1st June 2025, new maritime regulations in the Virgin Islands take effect. Amendments to the Cruising and Home Port Permit Act and the Commercial Recreational Vessels Licensing Act introduce stricter rules for intra-trading between local ports. Only licensed BVI vessels may operate freely, while non-BVI vessels require limited-time waivers, inspection certification, and fees. Certain exemptions apply, including small cruise ships and locally licensed recreational vessels.

Contract Signed For Design And Construction Management Of Farmers’ Reservoir
On May 13, 2025, the Government of the Virgin Islands signed a $224,639.60 contract with Alvair Limited for consultancy services related to the engineering design and construction management of water mains and civil works for the Farmers’ Reservoir at Paraquita Bay. This 30-month project, led by the Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) and funded by the Government with the Premier’s Office as Ministry Partner, aims to address the long-standing water access issues affecting local farmers and enhance food security in the Territory. Environmental Health Announces Recall Of Morbier Cheese
The Environmental Health Division has announced the recall of Morbier Cheese, suspected to be contaminated with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, which has been linked to cases of Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS). The recall affects Morbier AOP 45JOURS cheese, with specific batches having the following lot numbers: 36110, 31304, and 33206. Consumers are advised to refrain from consuming the recalled products and return or dispose of them immediately. Symptoms of contamination include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting. Affected individuals should seek medical attention. The Ministry of Health and Social Development is monitoring the situation and providing further updates.
