Today, The Virgin Islands joins the global community in observing World Diabetes Day 2025 under the theme “Diabetes Across Life Stages.” This year’s theme highlights the reality that diabetes affects people from all walks of life. It does not discriminate, affecting individuals of every age, gender and background, from our youngest children to our most senior citizens. That is why it calls for a unified and comprehensive response from all of us.

The Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) won the 2025 Inter-Secondary School Debates, defeating the Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies (VISTS). ESHS team members Auri-Ana ElShabbaz, Tyasia Cameron, and Syeisha Keith triumphed in the final debate on S.T.E.A.M. education, with Keith winning the overall best speaker award. VISTS received several awards, including second-best speaker by Kellycian Paul. An impromptu speech competition was also held, with Laicha Nguyen of St. George’s Secondary School taking first place.
