Senior officials from the Virgin Islands Ministry of Education, led by Minister Hon. Sharie de Castro, visited the Cayman Islands from April 1–4 for an educational exchange. The delegation engaged in strategic meetings, school visits, and policy discussions with Cayman Islands counterparts to strengthen regional collaboration in areas such as early childhood education, special education, TVET, and curriculum development. The visit also explored future partnerships with the University College of the Cayman Islands and workforce readiness programs. Next steps include adapting best practices and formalizing areas of collaboration.

The Government of the Virgin Islands invites tenders for asphalt paving and road markings on 9 miles of primary roads. The project includes milling, material supply, asphalt plant setup, equipment provision, and installation of road markings and studs, with the goal of achieving a 15-year lifespan for the roads.

The Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports is encouraging public support for early childhood development during Early Childhood Awareness Week 2025, featuring daily spotlight videos on centres across the Virgin Islands. Parent workshops titled “Step it up: Early Intervention, Long Lasting Impact” will be held on May 27 at BFEC Primary in Virgin Gorda and on May 28 at ESHS Lecture Room 1 in Tortola, both from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Additionally, a panel discussion on early childhood will be streamed live tomorrow on the Government’s Facebook page at BVIGovernment.

The 2025 Inter-Primary Schools Track and Field Championships concluded with Francis Lettsome Primary School winning the best primary school title for the third consecutive year. The event, hosted by the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs, and Sports, took place from March 26 to 28 at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Grounds and featured various races, including 300m, 100m relays, and Sprint Medley Relay finals. Acting Director of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ms. Shaunice Leonard, congratulated the 21 participating schools and highlighted the championships as a platform to nurture future athletic talent. Individual champions in each division were announced, with Earlon Prescott, Janaicy Gumbs, Kaylaun Douglas, Shanae Benjamin, and Ke'Mori Daway among the top scorers. The titles of Victor and Victrix Ludorum were shared by multiple athletes with 30 points each. The Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs, and Sports continues to support sports and recreation to enrich the lives of Virgin Islands residents.

The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board & Film Commission is excited to announce the return of BVI Restaurant Week, happening from 28 June to 5 July 2025. As part of the BVI Food Fete Culinary Series, this vibrant event celebrates Tortola’s diverse food scene with curated dining experiences, themed days, and prix-fixe menus at nearly 40 participating restaurants. Under the theme “Your Belly Knows Best ~ The Perfect Week for Perfect Dining,” the week will feature local ingredients, cocktails, entertainment, and a “Foodie Passport” prize giveaway to encourage exploration. Restaurant Week is the third event in the BVI Food Fete series and reinforces the BVI’s growing appeal as a top destination for culinary and cultural tourism.

Author Mrs. Venoria Todman will launch her new book, Show and Tell Marriages, Living in Hell, on March 26 at Village Cay Marina. The book explores the emotional challenges in modern marriages. The Virgin Islands Department of Culture supports local authors and encourages the community to attend the event and engage with Mrs. Todman.
