He stressed that security is fundamental to the Virgin Islands' prosperity and that collective action is necessary to tackle the complex security issues the territory faces. The Governor expressed optimism about making progress on security challenges by the end of the year.

Improving employee health, wellness and productivity is at the centre of a new office renovation contract signed between the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) and Vanterpool Construction to facilitate the relocation of the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change. The contract valued at $401,533.15 was awarded on Tuesday, 10 February, 2026, following a National (Domestic) Competitive Bidding process conducted in accordance with the RDA’s Procurement Policy and Procedures.
The Government of the Virgin Islands, through the Attorney General’s Chambers, is inviting qualified legal practitioners and consultants to submit Expressions of Interest for inclusion on a Panel of Legal Practitioners & Consultants. The Panel will provide a range of legal services including drafting, civil litigation, advisory, and specialist consultancy across various practice areas such as constitutional law, commercial law, legislative drafting, and more. Eligible applicants must be admitted or eligible to practice law in the Virgin Islands and demonstrate expertise in relevant fields. Selected panel members will be engaged on a case-by-case basis under framework agreements, with assignments based on need and performance. Submissions are due by July 14, 2025, and must include detailed documentation to support qualifications and experience.
The Government of the Virgin Islands has taken a significant step towards strengthening the Territory’s cultural identity and modernising public infrastructure with the signing of contracts for the architectural and engineering design of the National Cultural Arena, and design services for Estate House #2 (Oleander House) formerly, the Chief Minister’s residence.

Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, Honourable Sharie de Castro, announced that her ministry is reviewing the Education Act to address violence in schools. She emphasized the importance of strengthening the act to provide necessary support for education in the Territory. The ministry is also using various disciplinary measures to ensure students continue their education while receiving support inside and outside school hours. Chief Education Officer Mrs. Orlandette Crabbe discussed the ministry’s "wrap-around approach," providing resources to students and their families to address behavioral issues. She stressed the commitment to ensuring a safe learning environment for all students. Inspector Rudolph Bobb from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force highlighted the increased police presence in schools and random student searches to prevent misconduct. He encouraged parents and students to seek assistance from the Family and Juvenile Unit to prevent serious legal consequences.
