He announces changes to the Government to strengthen the response to these challenges. The Honourable Mrs. Lorna Smith, OBE, will return to the Government as Minister of State for Financial Services and Economic Development, responsible for financial services, economic diversification, investment, trade, and climate finance. The Honourable Karl Dawson will step down as Junior Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries but will continue to support the Premier in these areas and be nominated as Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly.

A three-day conference was held in the Virgin Islands from March 25 to 27 to discuss the future of postal services, focusing on digital transformation and the integration of technologies like artificial intelligence. Hosted by the Caribbean Postal Union (CPU), Universal Postal Union (UPU), and the BVI Postal Services, the event was themed "Adapting to the Future: Enhancing Operational Efficiency and Innovation through Leadership in Postal Services." Premier Dr. Natalio D. Wheatley delivered the Keynote Address, emphasizing the importance of evolving postal services to meet the demands of the digital age, especially in light of the e-commerce boom. He highlighted the challenges faced by small island states like the BVI, including infrastructure limitations and the need for sustainable solutions. The conference brought together 29 postal leaders from across the region to discuss various issues, including embracing e-commerce, improving customer experience, and integrating emerging technologies like AI and blockchain.

The Safe Haven Transitional Centre organized a community clean-up in Nanny Cay during Mental Health Awareness Month to highlight the link between a clean environment and mental wellness. Director Nellville George Bronstorph emphasized that the initiative showcased the residents’ value and potential despite mental health challenges. The centre encourages ongoing community support, connection, and breaking the stigma around mental health, aligning with this year’s theme of “Community.”

The National Security Council (NSC) was updated on incidents in Tortola, including the shooting death of Quentin Noel Magloire in Purcell Estate. The NSC also received reports of possible gunshots in multiple locations, leading to the apprehension of a USVI citizen. The NSC commended the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) for their quick response and urged the public to assist in preventing and detecting crime. They encouraged anyone with information to contact the police or Crime Stoppers. The NSC is committed to working with the community to enhance security.

The Government of the Virgin Islands, through the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, is inviting tenders for the connection of two (2) 5000-Gallon Water Tanks at the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS). The works will enhance the school’s water infrastructure through the installation of an automatic fill system, interconnection of tanks, and integration of pump systems for consistent water supply.
