The Prison Basketball League at His Majesty’s Prison concluded with Team Echo winning the championship. The Government and people of the Virgin Islands mourn the passing of Ms. Eileene Lucia Parsons, OBE, a trailblazing leader and beloved cultural icon. As the first woman to serve as a Government Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Deputy Speaker, she broke barriers in politics and championed Virgin Islands culture. Ms. Parsons was a passionate advocate for education, health, and the arts, founding the BVI Heritage Dancers and promoting cultural preservation internationally. Honoured with an OBE in 2013, her legacy lives on through her many contributions and the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium. She passed away just shy of her 95th birthday, leaving an indelible mark on the Territory.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development is working on several initiatives, including strengthening healthcare services, collaborating with PAHO on the HEARTS and HEARTS-D programmes, reducing trans fats and sugars in food, and promoting exercise through the BVI Moves initiative. The Office of the Deputy Governor has launched the Public Education and Consultation process for the Human Rights Commission Bill, 2025. The Bill aims to establish a commission responsible for investigating human rights complaints and promoting awareness. It will consist of five commissioners, with appointments from the Governor, Premier, Leader of the Opposition, and Chief Justice.
