The Premier’s Office will host town hall meetings to discuss the 48 recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry (COI) and their impact on governance. These meetings, part of the Governance Reform Education & Awareness Transformation of the Virgin Islands (GREAT VI), will take place in Anegada, Tortola & Jost Van Dyke, and Virgin Gorda between February 2 and February 6. Government ministers will present an overview of the COI reforms, followed by an open discussion for public engagement. Transportation will be provided for Jost Van Dyke and North Sound residents. The National Security Council (NSC) was updated on incidents in Tortola, including the shooting death of Quentin Noel Magloire in Purcell Estate. The NSC also received reports of possible gunshots in multiple locations, leading to the apprehension of a USVI citizen. The NSC commended the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) for their quick response and urged the public to assist in preventing and detecting crime. They encouraged anyone with information to contact the police or Crime Stoppers. The NSC is committed to working with the community to enhance security.

The public is notified that the installation of the water transmission pipeline on the Diamond Estate to Chalwell Estate continues. Work on the pipe laying from the Montessori School Junction to the entrance of the Enis Adams Primary School will commence on Wednesday, 29 October.

The Government of the Virgin Islands, through the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, is inviting tenders for the connection of a 5,000-gallon water tank at the Francis Lettsome Primary School (FLPS) in East End, Tortola. The works are intended to support the upkeep and necessary maintenance of the school’s water supply system, including the installation of an automatic fill system, connection to the existing water supply, and integration with the pump system.
