The Recovery and Development Agency (RDA), under the Ministry of Communications and Works, is refining the scope of the ‘Road Infrastructure Reconstruction Programme’ to focus on five critical road projects: Fort Hill, Joe’s Hill, Windy Hill, Ridge Road, and Pockwood Pond. These roads were prioritized based on hazard exposure, asset vulnerability, traffic volume, and community needs. The RDA is planning schedules, budgets, and procurement for design engineering services. The projects aim to enhance road resilience, drainage systems, and water network upgrades, benefiting multiple communities. Premier Dr. The Hon. Natalio D. Wheatley addressed the inauguration of the Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU) School of Medicine in the Virgin Islands on March 24, 2025. He emphasized that this marks a significant milestone for the territory's healthcare and education sectors. For the first time, students can study medicine locally at an internationally accredited institution, with the program starting on July 28, 2025. The medical school will offer affordable education, provide scholarships, and contribute to the local economy through increased tourism, air connectivity, and job creation. Premier Wheatley also highlighted the long-term benefits of the school’s establishment, such as improving healthcare, supporting edu-tourism, and creating future growth opportunities in various sectors.

The Government announced that applications are now open for businesses seeking space in the Huntums Ghut Entrepreneurial Zone. Despite delays due to Covid-19 and funding challenges, the project has been completed with two resilient two-storey buildings, offering space for up to 34 businesses. Additional improvements include renovated bathroom facilities, new road access, parking, and a revitalized basketball court. A total of $1,202,794.06 has been invested, with the involvement of up to ten contractors. The First Step Programme for Entrepreneurs aims to empower local entrepreneurs by providing space to start and grow businesses, with the requirement of submitting a solid business plan. The initiative is designed to foster responsibility, sustainability, and innovation, with the support of various government departments to ensure business success. The Government emphasizes the importance of supporting local businesses for economic growth and creating opportunities for Virgin Islanders. The Huntums Ghut Entrepreneurial Zone is seen as a key step toward building a stronger, more resilient economy for the Territory.
