The Ministry of the Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change is continuing the Seagrape Tree Replanting Initiative at Long Bay, Beef Island, with 65 additional trees being planted on March 15, 23, and 29, 2025. This initiative aims to restore the seagrape treeline damaged by Hurricane Irma in 2017. The trees are being named in honor of deceased Virgin Islanders who contributed to community development. The public is invited to participate in the planting sessions, and high school students can volunteer for community service hours. Nominations for the remaining trees can be submitted online until March 21, 2025.
