The Social Development Department is reaffirming its support for survivors of abuse in the Virgin Islands, urging individuals to speak out and seek help. Recognising the emotional toll of abuse, especially in close-knit communities, the department assures survivors they are not alone and are never to blame. Programme Director Laurel Freeman emphasized the healing power of speaking out and pledged compassionate, confidential support throughout the healing process. Survivors are encouraged to contact the department or the Family & Juvenile Unit of the police for assistance.
