The approval was granted pursuant to Regulations 8(1) and 8(3) of the Road Traffic (Taxi and Livery Commission) Regulations, 1997, as amended and authorises the Commission to enforce the Demerit Point System with immediate effect.

The Recovery and Development Agency (RDA), under the Ministry of Communications and Works, is refining the scope of the ‘Road Infrastructure Reconstruction Programme’ to focus on five critical road projects: Fort Hill, Joe’s Hill, Windy Hill, Ridge Road, and Pockwood Pond. These roads were prioritized based on hazard exposure, asset vulnerability, traffic volume, and community needs. The RDA is planning schedules, budgets, and procurement for design engineering services. The projects aim to enhance road resilience, drainage systems, and water network upgrades, benefiting multiple communities. The program is funded by a $100M government loan and will improve over eight miles of road. The RDA is committed to transparency and public updates via BVIRecovery.vg and social media.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Environment, Honourable Julian Fraser, represented the Virgin Islands at the 12th OECS Council of Ministers: Environmental Sustainability Meeting held in Antigua and Barbuda on April 29. As outgoing Chair, he commended the Council’s progress on the COM:ES Roadmap to 2030 and participated in a panel on sustainable financing, highlighting the Virgin Islands Climate Change Trust Fund as a model for UK Overseas Territories facing barriers to traditional climate funding. Fraser emphasized the urgent need for recognition and support, given the growing climate threats to the Territory. The Trust Fund, legally established in 2015, will be operational this year and launched at COP30. The meeting also addressed key environmental issues under the theme “Staying the Course in Perilous Times: Sustainable Transformation and Resilient Prosperity.”
On May 13, 2025, Premier Hon. Dr. Natalio D. Wheatley delivered remarks at the contract signing for a new farmers reservoir at Paraquita Bay, addressing the longstanding challenge of reliable water access for farmers. Emphasizing the importance of agriculture to food security and economic resilience, the Premier announced the reservoir project as part of broader efforts to support local food production. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to empowering farmers through infrastructure, land access, and grant programmes, aiming to boost agricultural output and strengthen food security in the Virgin Islands.
