The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is in the process of distributing prizes to the winners of the 2026 Agriculture and Fisheries Exhibition and Market, held under the theme “Farming the Land, Fishing the Seas, Nourishing Lives and Legacies.” The 10th-12th April event showcased the talents, dedication and achievements of farmers, livestock producers, culinary competitors and community participants from across the Territory.
The exhibition featured a wide range of agricultural and livestock competitions, culinary contests and family-friendly games that highlighted the importance of agriculture and fisheries to food security, cultural preservation and economic development.
In the crop competitions, Laura Dore was recognised for Best Display of Root Vegetables; Jost Van Dyke Primary School and Theodore John for Best Display of Fruits; Moviene Fahie and Patricia Harry for Best Display of Cucurbits; MacNeil Stoutt and Abigail Moran-Mendez for Best Display of Leafy Vegetables and Herbs; and Theodore John and MacNeil Stoutt for Best Display of Sugar Cane.
Livestock winners included Elnathan Johnson and Kareem Rivera in the goat categories; Cheffy Thomas, Moviene Fahie and Leroy Thomas in the sheep categories; His Majesty’s Prison for Best Boar; and Abigail Moran-Mendez and Tiffany McMaster in the poultry category for Best Exhibit of Six Layers.
The culinary competitions recognised Liselin Frazer, Cherine Williams and Elaine-Grant-Francis for their entries in the Goat Meat Soup and Pumpkin Punch competitions.
The Domino Tournament winners were Azil Nibbs, Verlie Darroux-Foxe, Azeem Nibbs, Jevaughn Nibbs, Sassoon Fahie and Tashima Martin.
Winners in the Greased Pig competitions were Max Donovan, Noah Palmer and Kyreef Phillip in the Toddler category; Joel Williams, Aidan Hannibal and Leo Donovan in the 7–11 years category; Cekhoy Frazer in the 12–17 years category; and Amia Wheatley in the 18+ category.
In the Hot Dog Eating competitions, winners were Rudel Stoute in the 14–17 years category and Kamaria Dawson in the 18+ category.
Lime and Spoon race winners were Bryson Varlack in the 3–6 years category, Emily Davis in the 7–10 years category, Brilliana Penn in the Teens category, Lisa Frank in the 18+ Female category, and Aiden Percival, K’Niah Frazer and Aziel Stone in the Open category.
Director of Agriculture and Fisheries, Mr. Theodore James, said: “Over the years, the Agriculture and Fisheries Exhibition and Market has provided an important platform to showcase local agricultural production, encourage community involvement and promote the Territory’s agricultural and fisheries sectors. In particular, the Department thanks all participants, sponsors, vendors, farmers, fishers, volunteers and patrons who contributed to the success of the 2026 exhibition and market.”
The Agriculture and Fisheries Exhibition and Market remains one of the Territory’s premier events celebrating local food production, innovation and community engagement while recognising the hard work and achievements of those who contribute to the growth of the sector.
