The Office of the Supervisor of Elections is encouraging eligible individuals to register to vote.
To be qualified to register, a person must be a Belonger as per section (2)(2) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007, 18 years of age or older, and domiciled in the Virgin Islands. Documents to be presented when registering are either a Virgin Islands Passport with embossed seal, a Belonger Card, or a Belonger Certificate. A Naturalisation Certificate can also be used, provided the certificate is dated before June 15th 2007.
Additionally, section 17(1) of the Elections Act, Revised Laws of the Virgin Islands, 2013 states that: A registered voter, who is ordinarily resident in the Virgin Islands and who moves his or her place of residence from within one local electoral district or polling division to another, may have his or her name transferred to the list of voters for the local electoral district or polling division to which he or she has moved, if he or she applies on Form No. 9 and establishes, to the satisfaction of the Supervisor of Elections, proof of residence within the local electoral district or polling division to which he or she has moved.
Persons who have moved their place of residence and wish to transfer are encouraged to apply for a transfer. Documents to support a transfer can be in the form of Cable, Water, Electricity, or Telephone bills, a rent receipt, a lease agreement, or a notarised document stating the new address.
Registration and Transfer forms are available at the Office of the Supervisor of Elections, Road Town Post Office and the District Offices on Anegada, Virgin Gorda, and Jost Van Dyke.
