The Government of the Virgin Islands is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to serve as Members of the Public Assistance Committee, under the Ministry of Health and Social Development.

The Public Assistance Committee was established under the Public Assistance Act, 2013 and is responsible for reviewing and deciding on applications for public assistance, granting financial and in-kind support to eligible individuals and households, and making recommendations to the Minister on the provision of assistance. The Committee also prepares an annual report on its activities.

The Committee comprises between seven and nine members appointed by the Minister with the approval of Cabinet, including a Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, and the Chief Social Development Officer as an ex officio member. Appointments are for a term not exceeding three years, with eligibility for reappointment.

Ideal candidates should demonstrate integrity, sound judgement, strong leadership and communication skills, and a commitment to confidentiality and good governance. Applicants with experience in medicine, law, accounting, nursing, social work, academia, the religious community, or other relevant fields are encouraged to apply.

Interested persons are required to submit a Letter of Interest and a Résumé or Curriculum Vitae to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Social Development, by 23rd January, 2026. Applications may be submitted via email to ministryofhealth@gov.vg.
