Step 1: Fill out the application form

First, download, print and fill the official form.

Here is the simple details you will need to write down on the paper:

  • Your Personal Details: Your full name, home address, birthday, place of birth, and passport information.
  • Why you need it: Write down the reason you are asking for the certificate (like "For a new job" or "For a trade license application").
  • How many you need: State exactly how many copies of the certificate you want to buy.
  • Your Record History: You must answer "Yes" or "No" to whether you have ever been convicted of any crime or traffic offense in the BVI. If yes, you must write down the year it happened.

Step 2: What you must bring to the station

You must bring your completed form and your physical papers directly to the police station.

Pack these items before you go:

  • Your Completed Form: The printed and signed application paper.
  • Your Valid Passport: Your real, original passport (not a copy).
  • Two Passport Photos: Two (2) clean face photos that are less than 6 months old. Note: If you are ordering more than one certificate, bring one extra photo for each extra copy you want.
  • The Fee: $20.00 per certificate.
  • A Permission Letter (Only if applying for someone else): If you are handing in this form or picking it up for a friend or family member, you must bring an official letter from them giving you permission (a letter of proxy).

Step 3: Pick up your certificate

  • Get a Receipt: When you hand in your papers and pay your fee, the officer will give you a payment receipt. Do not lose this receipt!
  • Wait 3 Days: The police team will check their records.
  • Collect Your Paper: Go back to the Road Town Police Station after 3 working days. Show them your receipt, and they will hand you your official Police Certificate.
