Our Commitment to Serve
The National Drug Advisory Council (NDAC) is a statutory body established by the Drug Prevention and Control Act in the British Virgin Islands. Its primary role is to provide expert advice to the Government on matters related to drug prevention, control, and treatment, ensuring the health and safety of the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advisory Role: NDAC offers expert recommendations on national drug policies, strategies, and regulations, guiding the Government in its efforts to prevent drug misuse and address related issues.
- Public Education and Awareness: The Council is actively involved in creating and promoting public education campaigns aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug misuse and providing information on prevention and treatment options.
- Research and Data Collection: NDAC conducts and supports research to understand drug use trends, its social and health impacts, and the effectiveness of current intervention strategies.
- Collaboration: The Council works closely with local, regional, and international organizations to coordinate drug prevention and treatment programs, aligning with global standards and best practices.
- Regulation and Oversight: NDAC plays a role in advising on the classification and control of substances, supporting law enforcement agencies and health authorities in the regulation and enforcement of drug-related laws.
