Press Release
Organisation:
The Virgin Islands Community is invited to come together for an evening of music and celebration as part of the ongoing 75th Anniversary of the restoration of the Virgin Islands Legislature. Bring your family, gather your friends, or simply come to be a part of this special Concert, at the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park on Sunday, 23rd November, starting at 6:00 p.m.
The event will honour the historic March of 1949 and the efforts that led to the restoration of the Legislature in 1950, celebrating the Territory’s journey towards self-determination and unity.
Speaker for the House of Assembly, Honourable Corine George-Massicote, shared her thoughts on the event: “Since the landmark restoration in 1950, the Virgin Islands Legislature has played a pivotal role in guiding the islands’ progress while preserving cultural heritage and fostering inclusive governance. Our Family Fun Night will unite people of all ages through music and celebration, reflecting on our past and inspiring our future path towards Self-Determination.”
There will be traditional Virgin Islands music, community performances, and spectacular fireworks displayed to round off the evening.
The anniversary celebrations will continue with a Unifying Church Service on Sunday, 30th November, at 8:30 a.m. at St. Georges Anglican Church. Everyone is encouraged to join in the festivities that celebrate the past, present, and future of the Virgin Islands Legislature.
