Organisation:
On Saturday, December 20th, the British Virgin Islands Hong Kong Office hosted its annual “BVI Christmas Dinner” for BVI students & staff studying and working in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and China. The gathering in Central Hong Kong, brought together eight (8) students and five (5) staff for a fun filled afternoon of fellowship, Virgin Islands music, games, a Christmas meal, and plenty of Sorrel, Ginger Beer, and Guavaberry.
“We host an annual holiday gathering to give our students and staff a touch of home while away from home during the end of year holidays. Most of our students will not travel back to their families in BVI for the holidays, so it is important that we celebrate Christmas here as a Virgin Islands family and that no one is alone.”-Director of the BVI Hong Kong Office Dr. Ricardo Wheatley
The Christmas dinner, sponsored by the Office of the Premier, was organized by BVI Hong Kong Office staff members Mr. Ronn Grant & Mr. Shaquille Malone, who following dinner led a festive Christmas lights walking tour for the students across Hong Kong’s City Centre.
“We presently have nine (9) students studying here in the BVI Asia Abroad Scholarship Programme, and it is my hope that at next year’s holiday gathering we will host 20 students for Christmas dinner as more students join the programme.”- Ronn Grant – Political Economy Officer
