Students studying in the BVI Asia Abroad Scholarship Programme in Hong Kong & Macau participated in Hong Kong’s Winter Food Festival held in the Hong Kong Exhibition & Conference Centre from 25th – 29th December 25th 2025.

The bi-annual Festival is a gastronomical event that brings together a diverse array of local and international cuisines in which Chinese and International travelers sample delicacies and food brands from across the world. BVI students Travis Thomas, Kimberly Cordez, Zyra Creque, and Shamorie Glasgow supported the festivals lone Caribbean booth “Kepstar Trading” under the theme “A Taste of the Caribbean”.

The booth featured Caribbean favourites like jerk chicken, patties, pastelles, sorrel, and cocktail drinks sponsored by Caribbean brands Angostura Rum and Blue Mountain Coffee. As Kepstar advertised the sale of its exclusive Caribbean seasonings, spices, sauces, drinks, and other food products at the heart of Caribbean culture, the students warmly welcomed visitors to the booth in a display of Caribbean hospitality.

Dr. Ricardo Wheatley, Director of the BVI Hong Kong Office, attended the festival in support of the students, stating that, “Having our students participate in rich cultural exchanges such as the Hong Kong Winter Food Festival allows them to be cultural ambassadors for not just the BVI, but the entire Caribbean region. We want them to be as culturally immersed as possible in the local events and culture while studying here in Asia.”

Students interested in applying to the BVI Asia Abroad Scholarship Programme for the 2026-2027 academic year can contact the BVI’s Hong Kong Office via email at studyinasia@bvihongkongoffice.com.hk
