Mrs. Karia J Christopher has been appointed as Director of Communications within the Premier’s Office. Mrs. Christopher’s appointment comes following a period of rotation to perform the duties of the role.

As Director of Communications, Ms. Christopher assists with policy development, serves as the key cross-ministry communications coordinator to assist in achieving the Government’s Legislative Agenda and serves as the Press Secretary for the Government of the Virgin Islands, ensuring that the Government’s messaging across all channels is consistent and meets established standards.

Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office, Mrs. Carolyn Stoutt Igwe said, “I welcome the appointment of Mrs. Christopher. She has done extensive work during her rotation period and I am confident that she will continue to grow in the role as she works to improve communications across the Public Service”. 

In commenting on her appointment, Mrs. Christopher stated, “It is a pleasure  to serve the people of the Virgin Islands in this capacity. I look forward to strengthening our communication efforts, ensuring that Government’s messaging is clear, transparent, and accessible, while fostering greater engagement with the public as we advance the Government’s Legislative Agenda.

The new Director brings a wealth of experience in the public sector to this role, having previously served as Director of Trade, Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs, Sister Islands Programme Coordinator and Chief Administrative Officer of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission. 

Mrs. Christopher holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management and a Master of Science in Human Resources Management, including a certification in Organisational Change.  She has also earned an Accreditation in Public Relations from the Public Relations Society for America, a Speech Writing and Mass Communication Certification and an Advanced Public Speaking Certification.
