The Premier’s Office invites applications from experienced maritime professionals for the position of Chairperson of the Maritime Advisory Board.
In accordance with Section 454 (1) of the Merchant Shipping Act, 2021 a Board must be established under the name of “Maritime Advisory Board” to provide expert guidance and strategic advice pertaining to the maritime industry.
The Chairperson will ensure effective maritime governance and safeguarding national interests. The position is crucial for overseeing maritime policies, regulations, and initiatives that contribute to the sustainable development and security of the BVI’s maritime domain.
The chosen candidate shall be a person of high integrity, capable of exercising competence, diligence, sound judgment and impartiality in fulfilling his or her duties pursuant to the Act.
As stipulated in the Act, members of the Board shall hold office for a period not exceeding two years from the date of appointment and shall be eligible for reappointment.
Persons expressing an interest to serve as Chairperson of the Board should be knowledgeable and well-versed in matters pertaining to maritime industry.

- Employment record;
- Educational background/qualifications;
- Previous Board experience including dates of terms;
- Police certificate; and
- Two references, attesting to professional experience and character, respectively.
