Press Release
Organisation:
The Government of the Virgin Islands, in collaboration with the BVI Christian Council, will host an Interdenominational Service on Sunday, 18th January, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. at the Queen Elizabeth II Park, Road Town, as the Territory comes together in prayer, worship, and reflection at the start of the new year.
To be held under the theme “Lord, Our Eyes Are Upon You!”, inspired by 2 Chronicles 20:12, the service will unite faith leaders, public officials, and members of the wider community in committing the Virgin Islands into the hands of Almighty God for 2026.
Premier Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley highlighted the importance of unity and reflection as the Territory begins a new year. “This interdenominational service provides an important opportunity for our Territory to come together in unity, humility, and prayer as we begin a new year. As a people, we recognise the value of faith, reflection, and collective purpose in guiding our national development, and I encourage everyone to join us as we commit the Virgin Islands into God’s care for 2026,” the Premier said.
President of the BVI Christian Council, Bishop Dr. Paul A. Ricketts, emphasised the spiritual significance of the gathering and issued a call to the entire community to participate. He said: “In these times of uncertainty, we are reminded that while some may put their trust in earthly power or ‘chariots,’ our true help and hope come from the Lord God Almighty. We may not know exactly what the future holds, but we move forward with the unwavering assurance that we know who holds the future. When He leads us, we can be certain that all things are working together for our good and His ultimate glory.”
The annual interdenominational service reflects the strong partnership between the Government of the Virgin Islands and the faith community, recognising the role of prayer, unity, and spiritual guidance in the life of the residents of this Territory. The programme will include scripture readings, worship, prayers, and messages of encouragement.
The Government of the Virgin Islands and the BVI Christian Council invite all residents, churches, community organisations, and visitors to attend and participate in this significant national observance.
