Statement by the Superintendent of His Majesty’s Prison,

Mr. Jay Kendall

Regarding Precautionary Security Measures at His Majesty’s Prison

10 June 2026

His Majesty's Prison can confirm that precautionary security measures were implemented at His Majesty's Prison following information received about a potential security threat.

The intelligence prompted an immediate operational response by His Majesty's Prison, working closely with the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and other relevant agencies. The National Security Council was briefed and kept informed throughout the operation. The prison remained secure at all times, and there was no indication of any risk to the wider community.

The operation included restricted movement, enhanced security procedures and targeted searches of accommodation and other areas. These actions were in line with established protocols to protect the safety and security of prisoners, staff, visitors and the public.

A number of items of contraband were recovered during the operation and will be dealt with in accordance with prison rules and procedures.

As with correctional facilities worldwide, searching, intelligence gathering and contraband detection form a routine and essential part of daily prison operations, helping to maintain safety, security and good order.

His Majesty's Prison Service thanks its officers, partner agencies and the public for their continued cooperation and support.
