Two students are participating in internships with Harneys Fiduciary and Ascentium Company as part of the Department of Labour and Workforce Development Partnership Programme.

The students were placed at the firm following their successful completion of the Standard Workforce Readiness Training.

Acting Labour Commissioner, Mr. Mervin Hastings said, “I am excited to see the private and public sectors collaboration for the benefit of the students and ultimately the community of the Virgin Islands.”

Mr. Hastings added, “We are encouraging more Virgin Islanders and Belongers to enroll in the next Standard Workforce Readiness Training to unlock similar life-changing opportunities and take the first step toward a successful career.”

The internship, which runs from July 29 to August 29 will offer both students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the Financial Services industry. Throughout their placement, they will be immersed in the day-to-day operations of a leading firm while continuing to build essential soft skills in a professional environment.

The initiative reflects a shared commitment by the Department of Labour and Workforce Development to equip young Virgin Islanders and Belongers with the tools, training, and exposure needed to thrive in competitive industries.
