World’s Largest Floating Bookfair to Make Historic Visit to the Virgin Islands

(Hundreds of Books on Display for Sale)

Literary and cultural enthusiasts in the Virgin Islands are in for a treat when the world’s largest floating bookfair docks in Road Town, Tortola from 24th-29th October, 2025 with over 5,000 titles on display for sale.

The visit presents a unique opportunity for the public, including students, to interact with the international crew and up to 400 multi-cultural volunteers as they promote literacy and education, cross-cultural cooperation, and social awareness.

The MV Logos Hope, a Malta-registered vessel, began its tour in Denmark in 2009 and has visited more than 150 ports in over 83 countries and territories, selling in excess of 11.5 million books. MV Logos has visited over 16 Caribbean countries and will be coming here from Nassau, Bahamas.

The Premier’s Office is facilitating the visit. Plans include a welcome reception, a courtesy call on the Premier and Cabinet, a press conference, visits by students, non-profit organisations and uniformed bodies, a Rotary event, and a fundraising concert. The MV Logos will be open at specific times with its book fair, and the staff will participate in local church services and a community donation initiative.

Khemraj Lakhan Senior Project Manager GBA Ships e.V said: “while in the Virgin Islands, our vessel seeks to share knowledge through access to high-quality literature, help by expressing practical love to those in need, and hope by promoting peace through embracing diversity and modelling a purposeful life in and around the world's port communities and cities”. He added: “this unique catalytic platform creates and nurtures a culture of volunteer engagement that is multiplying and making a difference in the lives of many individuals and their communities”.

“With the support of each agency (involved), the Government of the Virgin Islands will play a vital role in ensuring that this inaugural visit of MV Logos Hope is not only smooth and successful, but also leaves a lasting positive impact on our communities,” said Dr. Lavon Chalwell-Brewley, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office.
