Join us on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at Sunday Morning Well for the official Emancipation Service — an uplifting, community-centered event celebrating the spirit of freedom and unity in the Virgin Islands.
This year’s theme is:
“One God, One Aim, One Destiny”
The Emancipation Service is part of Virgin Islands Heritage Month, which highlights the struggles, triumphs, and cultural richness of our people. This is a time for reflection, unity, and forward movement as a Territory.
All are encouraged to attend and participate in this meaningful celebration of our history and hope.

- Opening songs and pledges honoring the Territory and Afro-Caribbean heritage
- Scripture reading and prayer by local pastors
- Remarks by government leaders and cultural representatives
- A moment of silence to honor the late Mrs. Eileene Lucia Parsons
- An inspiring Emancipation sermon by Reverend Dr. Melvin A. Turnbull
- Uplifting musical selections, including “We Shall Overcome”
- Closing reflections and community engagement
