To be eligible for a customized licence plate, applicants must:

• Be the registered owner of the vehicle.
• Possess a valid Virgin Islands driver's licence.
• Ensure the vehicle is currently registered and in good standing.

Complete the Application Form

Obtain and fill out the Personalized Licence Plate Application Form. This form requires:

• Your full name and contact information.
• Driver’s Licence Number.
• Social Security Number.
• Current Licence Plate Number.
• Current Sticker Number.
• Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
• Provide three (3) choices for the characters you would like on your licence plate.
   

Submit the completed application form along with the required documents to the DMV to await  approval from the Minister of Communications and Works. 

 

Upon approval of the application, pay the applicable fee using one of the following methods:

• Visa
• MasterCard
• Debit Card
• Cash
• Cheque

A receipt will be issued upon payment. 

Allow up to 90 days for the production of the customized plates. You will be notified when the plates are ready for collection.

 

When collecting your new customized plates:

• Collect the plates from the DMV. You may then complete a Vehicle Transfer Form if you wish to assign the plates to a vehicle. A copy of this form will be provided to you.

The fee for customised licence plates is $1,000.00, payable upon approval by the Minister.

Customized licence plates are typically ready within 90 days from the date of application approval and payment.
