The Antigua/Barbuda Meteorological Service has discontinued the Tropical Storm Warning for the British Virgin Islands. However, a marine warning remains in place for small craft operators and sea bathers.

Update for Summer Institute for Teachers, 2015

The Ministry of Education and Culture is informing those teachers who are to be participating in the Healthy Schools Workshop that they are to report to the Conference Room, Fort Burt Hotel at 11:00 a.m. today.  All other teachers are to report to their respective schools to prepare for the opening of the 2015-2016 academic school year.

All Principals and senior teachers who are participating in the Leadership Training which is being conducted by NCEL are asked to report to their respective training centres by 11:00 a.m. today.

Cancellation Of The 2015 Professional Day For Educators

The Ministry of Education and Culture is informing all its Principals and Teachers that the 2015 Professional Day for Educators has been cancelled.  All teachers are to report to their respective schools on Monday, 31st August, 2015, to prepare for the opening of the 2015-2016 academic school year.

Tropical Storm Erika 8:00 p.m. Update

At 8:00 p.m., the centre of Tropical Storm Erika was estimated near latitude 16.7 degrees north, longitude 64.7 degrees west or about 109 miles east of the BVI. Erika is moving toward the west near 12 mph. Erika should resume a west-northwest track with a slight increase in forward speed later tonight. This general motion is expected to continue for the next 48 hours.
