The Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports is encouraging public support for early childhood development during Early Childhood Awareness Week 2025, featuring daily spotlight videos on centres across the Virgin Islands. Parent workshops titled “Step it up: Early Intervention, Long Lasting Impact” will be held on May 27 at BFEC Primary in Virgin Gorda and on May 28 at ESHS Lecture Room 1 in Tortola, both from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Additionally, a panel discussion on early childhood will be streamed live tomorrow on the Government’s Facebook page at BVIGovernment.

The Government of the Virgin Islands advises that the procurement process for Solid Waste Collection in The Valley, Virgin Gorda (Ref: PS/RFP/2025/MHSD/REF-23), originally scheduled for 3rd November 2025, will be officially re-tendered due to administrative reasons. Further updates will be provided in due course, and all interested parties are thanked for their efforts and understanding.

The Government of the Virgin Islands (GoVI) currently holds fifteen standard loans with four creditors: three domestic (CIBC Caribbean, Republic Bank, and the Social Security Board) and one external (Caribbean Development Bank). Domestic debt totals $71.77 million (47.1% of total debt), while external debt with CDB accounts for $80.49 million (52.9%). Most of the debt (79.2%, or $120.62 million) carries floating interest rates, primarily with SSB, CIBC, and CDB, while the remaining 20.8% ($31.64 million) is fixed-rate debt held across all creditors.

The Marine Safety Investigation and Reporting Authority (MSIRA) has published its Safety Investigation Report into the collision involving the motor vessel Mojaito, which occurred on the night of 26 July 2025 in the Sir Francis Drake Channel, south of Brandywine Bay, Tortola.
