The Elections (Amendment) Bill, 2025 has been read for a first time in the House of Assembly and has been subsequently released via the Virgin Islands Official Gazette. Members of the public are invited to read the new Bill which proposes transformative changes to the Office of the Supervisor of Elections and elections administration in the Virgin Islands.
The public is advised that the Immigration and Passport (Amendment) Bill, 2024 is now available for review. The Bill was introduced in the House of Assembly on April 3, 2025, and can be accessed on the Virgin Islands Official Gazette website in Gazette No. 44 dated April 15, 2025. The Civil Registry and Passport Office is advising members of the public of new guidance issued by the United States Department of State regarding the process related to various categories of visas.
The Department of Waste Management is inviting quotations for the supply and installation of eleven (11) solar-powered weatherproof outdoor IP security cameras and three (3) indoor IP cameras to be installed at the Pockwood Pond Incinerator, Waste Oil Facility (Sea Cow’s Bay), and The Valley Dumpsite in Virgin Gorda. Cameras must have one-year maintenance, Wi-Fi or 4G connectivity, 2K video quality, MP4 capture format, solar power for outdoor units, night vision, and internal memory storage. Interested businesses must submit duplicate sealed quotations with company name and reference, including product specs, photos, and certificates of good standing from tax, social security, and health authorities, plus a valid 2025 trade license. Mandatory site visits are scheduled for Virgin Gorda on July 7 at noon, and for Sea Cow’s Bay and Pockwood Pond on July 8 at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. respectively. The Premier of the Virgin Islands, Honourable Dr. Natalio D. Wheatley, will be away on official duty from March 18 to March 20, 2025, to attend the ascension of Saint Martin to the OECS and the OECS 76th authority meeting. During his absence, Deputy Premier Honourable Julian Fraser will serve as Acting Premier, in accordance with the Virgin Islands Constitution.
The Government of the Virgin Islands advises that the procurement process for Solid Waste Collection in The Valley, Virgin Gorda (Ref: PS/RFP/2025/MHSD/REF-23), originally scheduled for 3rd November 2025, will be officially re-tendered due to administrative reasons. The Cabinet of the Virgin Islands held a meeting on October 3, 2024, chaired by His Excellency, Governor Mr. Daniel Pruce, at the Premier's Conference Room. All Cabinet members were present except for the Minister for Health and Social Development, the Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports, and the Attorney General, who were abroad on official business. The Solicitor General, Mrs. Jo-Ann Williams-Roberts, attended as the acting Attorney General.
