The British Virgin Islands International Tax Authority (BVIITA) advises users of the BVIFARS portal about current issues with credit card payments for bulk transactions. Users experiencing difficulties should email payments@bviita.vg with the subject “BVIFARs Payment difficulties” and detail the problem. Only users with “FI permissions” can make payments on the portal. Entities enrolled in BVIFARS must pay the annual fee unless deactivation was requested by April 8, 2025, or approved otherwise. The International Tax Authority (ITA) advises Registered Agents of the finalized transition dates for Economic Substance (ES) filings. The Beneficial Ownership Secure Search system (BOSSs) will no longer be available after December 26, 2025, and the Virtual Integrated Registry Regulatory General Information Network (VIRRGIN) will open for ES filings on January 2, 2026. Registered Agents must ensure all outstanding filings, reopened declarations, and Section 11 Notice requests are submitted before these deadlines.
The Marine Safety Investigation and Reporting Authority (MSIRA) has published its Safety Investigation Report into the collision involving the motor vessel Mojaito, which occurred on the night of 26 July 2025 in the Sir Francis Drake Channel, south of Brandywine Bay, Tortola.
The public is advised that the Consolidated Index of Virgin Islands Legislation has been updated to include all legislation in force as of 1st January, 2026. This update incorporates all legislative changes made since the publication of the previous Index as at 1 January 2025.

On 26th February, the Environmental Health Division, at the request of the Ministry of Communications and Works, assessed the visible white plume from the Norwegian Epic. Measurements for carbon dioxide, volatile organic compounds, particulate matter, and carbon monoxide were taken to ensure air quality was not compromised. All readings were within normal ranges, ensuring safety. The plume was identified as water vapor from the ship's Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (EGCS), which reduces sulfur oxide emissions to meet international standards. The ship's Environmental Officer cooperated fully, providing necessary documentation. It was recommended that the ship switch to low-sulfur fuel while at berth, and the officer agreed to consider this on future visits. The Ministry continues its commitment to maintaining reliable infrastructure and a healthy environment.
