Improving employee health, wellness and productivity is at the centre of a new office renovation contract signed between the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) and Vanterpool Construction to facilitate the relocation of the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change. The contract valued at $401,533.15 was awarded on Tuesday, 10 February, 2026, following a National (Domestic) Competitive Bidding process conducted in accordance with the RDA’s Procurement Policy and Procedures.
Inmates at His Majesty’s Prison participated in the second annual Inmate Debate focused on how positive prison experiences can impact society. Two teams presented arguments, with Team Two winning a $500 prize. The event, supported by the New Life Baptist Church, aimed to encourage rehabilitation and personal growth. The prison is enhancing its rehabilitation efforts by employing a full-time Counsellor, Rehabilitation Officer, and Teacher, supported by the Ministry of Health and Social Development.
The Government of the Virgin Islands has launched the "Business Done RIGHT" public awareness campaign to educate the community about preventing financial crime in BVI businesses. The campaign, led by the mascot Riley Right, will focus on recognizing suspicious transactions, understanding money laundering, complying with Know Your Customer requirements, and reporting suspicious activities. The initiative, overseen by the NAMLCC, aims to foster a culture of vigilance and financial integrity. Ms. Lavonna Burrows, National AML Coordinator, emphasized the shared responsibility in tackling financial crime.

The Social Development Department hosted a Seniors’ Cultural Soirée on May 10th to celebrate Senior Citizens’ Month 2025, bringing together local seniors and visitors from the US Virgin Islands. Under the theme “Flip the Script on Aging,” the event showcased Virgin Islands heritage through food, music, and traditions, fostering cultural exchange and community spirit. Minister Vincent O. Wheatley praised the event for honoring elders’ contributions and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting seniors.
