VI to Host Invasive Green Iguana Action Planning and Management Training Workshop The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, in collaboration with the Centre for Applied Marine Studies (CAMS) at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) and the Great Britain Non-Native Species Secretariat (GB NNSS), will host a four-day Invasive Green Iguana Action Planning and Management Training Workshop from the 17th to 20th March 2026 at the HLSCC Learning Resource Centre.

The Ministry of Finance is encouraging businesses and individuals to participate in the 2025 Business Conditions Survey to help the Government of the Virgin Islands assess the current state of the economy and predict future trends. Financial Secretary Mr. Jeremiah Frett emphasized the importance of the survey as a formal tool for gathering economic data, especially vital for Small Island Developing States like the Virgin Islands that are vulnerable to external shocks. The survey, which takes approximately 15 minutes to complete, collects information on business sectors, workforce composition, and perceptions of economic conditions. Insights from the survey will inform government policy, aid GDP forecasting, and help businesses strategize and prepare for economic changes.
The Government of the Virgin Islands has appointed Ms. Noelene D. Levons, Ms. Samantha L. Stevens, and Mrs. Mitsy J. Ellis-Simpson to the Board of the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) for a three-year term from February 10, 2024, to February 9, 2027. These appointments aim to strengthen governance, financial oversight, and service delivery within the healthcare system. The new board members bring extensive experience in nursing, finance, and economics. Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Vincent O. HM Customs and the RVIPF Sign Memorandum of Understanding His Majesty’s Customs and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing a formal and structured partnership to govern the seizure, handling, transfer, and destruction of contraband. Commissioner of the Custom’s Department Mr. Greg Romney (Ag) said he is happy to see this structured partnership take place.
The Recovery and Development Agency (RDA), under the Ministry of Communications and Works, is refining the scope of the ‘Road Infrastructure Reconstruction Programme’ to focus on five critical road projects: Fort Hill, Joe’s Hill, Windy Hill, Ridge Road, and Pockwood Pond. These roads were prioritized based on hazard exposure, asset vulnerability, traffic volume, and community needs. The RDA is planning schedules, budgets, and procurement for design engineering services. The projects aim to enhance road resilience, drainage systems, and water network upgrades, benefiting multiple communities. The program is funded by a $100M government loan and will improve over eight miles of road. The RDA is committed to transparency and public updates via BVIRecovery.vg and social media.
The Premier’s Office will host town hall meetings to discuss the 48 recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry (COI) and their impact on governance. These meetings, part of the Governance Reform Education & Awareness Transformation of the Virgin Islands (GREAT VI), will take place in Anegada, Tortola & Jost Van Dyke, and Virgin Gorda between February 2 and February 6. Government ministers will present an overview of the COI reforms, followed by an open discussion for public engagement. Transportation will be provided for Jost Van Dyke and North Sound residents.
