Environmental Health Announces Recall Of Morbier Cheese
The Environmental Health Division has announced the recall of Morbier Cheese, suspected to be contaminated with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, which has been linked to cases of Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS). The recall affects Morbier AOP 45JOURS cheese, with specific batches having the following lot numbers: 36110, 31304, and 33206. Consumers are advised to refrain from consuming the recalled products and return or dispose of them immediately. Symptoms of contamination include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting. Affected individuals should seek medical attention. The Ministry of Health and Social Development is monitoring the situation and providing further updates.

Senior Citizens Celebrate Culture and Community at Annual Soirée
The Social Development Department hosted a Seniors’ Cultural Soirée on May 10th to celebrate Senior Citizens’ Month 2025, bringing together local seniors and visitors from the US Virgin Islands. Under the theme “Flip the Script on Aging,” the event showcased Virgin Islands heritage through food, music, and traditions, fostering cultural exchange and community spirit. Minister Vincent O. STATEMENT BY HONOURABLE KYE M. RYMER ON WEST END FERRY TERMINAL PROJECT
Honourable Kye M. Rymer, Minister for Communications and Works, addressed the West End Ferry Terminal project, emphasizing its importance to recovery efforts after Hurricanes Irma and Maria. He explained that bids for the project exceeded the $15 million budget, with proposals of $64 million and $94 million. This has led to a reassessment of the project, including revising its scope and exploring cost-saving measures. The terminal is seen as a key infrastructure development for ferry passengers, yachts, and water taxis, enhancing connectivity between Tortola, Jost Van Dyke, and the USVI. Tender opportunity announced for Prospect Reef infrastructure works

Request For Expressions of Interest (Consulting Services – Firms Selection)
The Immigration Department seeks to develop a modern detention facility that ensures security and humane treatment in line with international standards. The Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency invites consulting firms to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the design and construction management of the Immigration Detention Centre. Submissions will be evaluated based on technical competence, qualifications, experience, and financial capability. EOIs must be submitted by January 31, 2025, and should not exceed 10 MB in size. Francis Lettsome Wins Inter-Primary School Athletics Championship for the Third Year
The 2025 Inter-Primary Schools Track and Field Championships concluded with Francis Lettsome Primary School winning the best primary school title for the third consecutive year. The event, hosted by the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs, and Sports, took place from March 26 to 28 at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Grounds and featured various races, including 300m, 100m relays, and Sprint Medley Relay finals. Acting Director of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ms. Shaunice Leonard, congratulated the 21 participating schools and highlighted the championships as a platform to nurture future athletic talent. Individual champions in each division were announced, with Earlon Prescott, Janaicy Gumbs, Kaylaun Douglas, Shanae Benjamin, and Ke'Mori Daway among the top scorers. The titles of Victor and Victrix Ludorum were shared by multiple athletes with 30 points each. The Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs, and Sports continues to support sports and recreation to enrich the lives of Virgin Islands residents.
